Russian, b. 1989

Gleb Skubachevsky is an artist, painter, based in London, United Kingdom. He was born in Moscow in 1989. He acquired an excellent academic education. 2005-2010 – studying at the Moscow State Academic Art College in memory of 1905 2010-2016 – studying at the Moscow State Academic Art Institute named after V.I. Surikov 2013-2016- a turning point in my art biography was applying at Aidan Salakhova and Sergey Ossovsky’s studio “Contemporary art”. Their mentorship became the starting point for the formation of my own artistic concept. He started to explore the possibilities of materials and the limits of reference, creating large canvases. Some more important steps in his artistic career: In 2015, at the Dukley European Art Community I’ve finally developed my author’s technique on the border of painting and plasticity: ornate, fragile volumes of paper, mounted on a wooden panel. The artworks overcome the plane surface without losing the quality of pictorial abstraction. 2015 – first solo exhibition “Spiritus ubi vult Spirat”, Dukley Residence (Kotor, Montenegro) 2016 – first time resident of the gallery “11/12”, CCA Winzavod, Moscow 2016 – first time at the Young Artists’ Biennale “Moscow International Biennale of Contemporary Art”, CCA Winzavod, Moscow 2016 – joined the Union of Artists of Russia 2018 – the first participation at the International Art Fair “Cosmoscow”, Moscow 2022 – departure from Russia (for personal and universal human reasons) 2023 – obtained a Global talent visa for the exceptional artistic abilities and moved to London.
