About the Artist
Yoshinori Hagiwara
Japanese, b. 1974
Japanese, b. 1974
Born in 1974, as the fifth generation of the Hagiwara workshop, Hagiwara Yoshinori currently resides in Mashiko, Japan. He studied and researched at the Tochigi Prefectural Ceramics Instructional Institute, and his work has since been selected for inclusion, and has won the Encouragement Prize at the National Art Exhibition for multiple years. Hagiwara’s recent works have broadened beyond his well-known persimmon glaze, and he has incorporated a yellow kaki glaze and a blue nuka and namijiro glaze into his works. He has created his own expression through using this glaze, and exhibits great control in his work. Hagiwara’s ceramics have been accepted into multiple public collections, both throughout the United States and in Israel.
