About the Artist
Jonathan K Higgins
American, b. 1962
American, b. 1962
The materials and processes of prints and drawings hold a strong interest for Jonathan Higgins. Transformation, whether the reversal of a printed image or the oxidation of silver in a metalpoint drawing, and facture, or the processes of making, become the subjects of his work. Using simple forms, line, repetition, pattern, fields of texture and tone, he explores and exploits materials and the possibilities they offer. Higgins holds a BA from Humboldt State University (CA) and an MA from New York University. A native of California, Higgins has exhibited his work on three continents. He lives and works in the Midwestern United States. His work is included in "Silverpoint and Metalpoint Drawing: A Complete Guide to the Medium", by Susan Schwalb and Tom Mazzullo, published by Routledge Press, 2018.
