The artist Natascha Schmitten evokes light-flooded pictorial spaces through her complex painting. Between shapes and volumes hides a moment of reality in the abstraction. The artist captures these traces or visual abstractions of moments of our time with ink, acrylic and oil paint on her frames covered with nylon fabric. Natascha Schmitten skillfully explores the possibilities of the transparent fabric and creates a contrasting coexistence of permeable and opaque surfaces. Positive and negative space cannot be firmly adjusted, resulting in a dynamic flickering and flowing as in a moving image. This fluidity, created by painterly means alone, is inherent in all of the artist’s works and lends them a great lightness.
