About the Artist
Noe Kuremoto
Noe Kuremoto was born in Osaka, Japan, graduated in Fine Art from Central Saint Martins College of Art in London and currently works in London and Lithuania. The ceramic artist has a colossal urge to create and has therefore explored and prepared several different expressions, all made by hand and using simple tools. The artist is particularly concerned with interpreting "Haniwa" – an ancient, traditional clay figure that was buried with the dead during the Kofun period in Japan in the belief that Haniwa would protect the soul in the afterlife. Noe's hope is that her sculptural interpretation of Haniwa will protect our souls in this life.
