Dennis Ashbaugh

Dennis Ashbaugh (b. 1946 Red Oak, Iowa) is an American painter who lives and works in New York City. Over the course of his prolific career he has continually reinvented himself in response to the evolving contemporary society in which we live. Some prominent themes in his work include computers, DNA, networks, and computer and biological viruses. He is the recipient of numerous awards, including the Rome Prize, the US Olympic Architecture Competition (1st place), and the John S. Guggenheim Fellowship. His work is in the permanent collections of the Brooklyn Museum, MoMA, Ghetty Museum, LACMA, Metropolitan Museum of Art, and Whitney Museum of American Art.
