Tanya Molskaya

Russian, American and Swiss, b. 1970

Tanya Molskaya, born in Saint Petersburg, Russia, in 1970, has a passion for both biology and the arts. After studying biology at Saint Petersburg State University, she moved to California to pursue art at the Laguna College of Art and Design, graduating with distinction. She specialised in visual communication and worked with various graphic design agencies. After living in Brussels, she settled in Geneva in 2007. Initially represented by Galerie Fahid Taghavi, she is now its associate director. Tanya Molskaya’s artistic work is characterised by energy imbued with softness and melancholy. She has participated in numerous group and solo exhibitions, developing a style centred on her deep interest in line work. Her black-and-white drawings, made with ink, are often spontaneous and executed in one fluid motion, without revision. Music frequently accompanies her creative process, influencing her approach. Her Mind Cartography series, though narrative, begins with spontaneous sketches that she refines over time. Her artistic universe is rich with femininity, mythology, and history. Her works are sincere and calming, seeking dialogue and often evoking a sense of familiarity in the viewer.
