Jay Zerbe
American, b. 1949
Jay Zerbe is an abstract artist who uses the contrast of chaos and order as the basis for his work. He works primarily in abstract acrylic paintings and collage pieces, and has been perfecting his craft for over 50 years. About his work he says: “The appearance of order breaks down under scrutiny, which mirrors my understanding of reality. My emotions seek pattern and rationality, while my intellect sees mismatched parts and ambiguous systems. The core of my work revolves around juxtaposing these diverse structures and their uncertain references.” Jay Zerbe’s paintings and collages have been the focus of over 40 exhibitions both nationally and internationally. His professional art career began in 1968 in Beirut with several exhibitions. Jay Zerbe has worked as a graphic designer, web designer, and virtual world designer. He now works full time as an artist.
